About George Dugdale
I am not a Baby Boomer. I was born in 1931. When I was in the 5th grade in 1941, I started a class room newsapaper which I called The Boomer News. It seemed appropriate when I started this blog in 2006 to call the blog the Boomer News.
Being retired, I can now investigate subjects that have interested me that I didn’t have time to investigate when I was working. I was a trial and error engineer who worked in manufacturing, product development, and research.
I’m not a scientist or mathematician, so I have more questions than answers. I want to involve our 11 grandchildren in my areas of interest to promote curiosity in math, science and the world around us.
During my career I was involved in vacuum tube manufacturing at Machlett Laboratories with The Night Vision Star Light Scope and Goggle system programs being among the more noteable. I set up a lamp factory in Research for Perkin Elmer’s Micralign semiconductor projection equipment. At Perkin Elmer I also worked on X-ray Lithography. At Hughes Danbury Optical Systems I was involved with optical coatings and the Chandra X-ray Telescope.
We write about a lot of subjects. The cosmos and human thought being most interesting subjects. The origins of the universe covers a wide range of science disciplines and the origins of the conscious mind encompass many of the great philosophical questions. The blogs have been directed toward our eleven grandchildren for the past 4 years.
Starting our 5th year, the issues of the 21st century will be examined with respect to unsustainable growth problems. It appears that we need a better information system to alert the general population that we can no longer wait until a life threatening crisis occurs before looking to leaders and science to save the day.
