Becoming Human & Erroneous Beliefs
November 18th, 2009 Posted in Boomer News, consciosness, social scienceKids, we did our own version of Becoming Human before the PBS mini series was aired. One of the objectives of our five chapter series, was to explore when the first human abstract conscious thought occurred. Our Chapter 5 was not too far off from the final PBS Becoming Human episode of the mini series. We are the only one of our species still standing and the only one to acquire abstract conscious thought.
Thanks to the Max Planck Institute, we are now pretty certain that Neanderthal did not achieve abstract conscious thought before becoming extinct. Over 100,000 years ago a great ice age pushed Homo sapien almost to the point of extinction. According to the PBS mini series, a small group of Homo sapiens were forced to the coast of Africa where they had to learn to survive on fish and berries. It may have been there that the first two humans that acquired abstract thinking … began our human lineage.
Our very first “what’s it all about” thoughts have been loaded with erroneous conclusions that have been handed down generation to generation since those first two abstract thinking humans were joined together. It is so important in the 21st century that we expose erroneous thinking and foster critical understanding of human action, inaction, and interaction with other humans and our environment … for there to be a good outcome in the 21st century.
