United World Religions … Why Not?

November 11th, 2009 Posted in Boomer News, Religion, social science

In war and in conflicts, every religious institution should be held to Abraham Lincoln’s logic; “Pray that we are on the Lord’s side …not that God is on our side”  To shout “God is great” and then start murdering as Muhammad Atta and Nidal Hasan did, is so incredibly counter to Religious teachings, it’s mind boggling. These were mature very well educated men.

In the aftermath of the killings at Fort Hood Texas, the need for a “United World Religions” organization is still just a dream. On 9-12-2001 I wrote an editorial appeal suggesting a new organization called United World Religions be established. It said: “The bombing of the World center yesterday should cause the world to really examine what the major religions are doing to prevent extreme fundamentalist from distorting their good works and teachings …” It went on to say, “We should consider erecting the new United World Religions building on the World Trade Center site …”

Boomer News April 2007 blog. (fiction)  “The United World Religions have begun writing their charter even though the World Center Trade site is not complete. In many ways their format is similar to the United Nations format. Five of the world’s largest religions will be permanent members of the decision making council. The General Assembly of churches will be made up of all religions with at least half million bona fide members.

Education will be the main goal of the United World Religions. The  framers of the charter are considering ways to monitor terrorist that are suspected of getting financial support from a religious group. The object will be to denounce and rid these terrorist segments from the parent religion. The United Nations and the United World Religions  have agreed, in principal, that secular problems and faith issues should be kept separate.”

In David Brooks “A Nation Rushes to Therapy” article he states; “We’re born into cultures, nations, and languages that we didn’t choose. On top of that, we’re born with certain brain chemicals and genetic predispositions that we can’t can’t control.” Social scientist and neuroscientist are making amazing progress on the mysteries of human thought. Exposure of erroneous thinking will be very essential to a good outcome for our species in the 21st century.
